Swing-out "stop" signs like this one are used on school buses in North America, and presumably in other parts of the world, where vehicle codes require traffic to stop as children exit the bus. The use of "Arret" suggests that perhaps this was a second-hand bus originally used in the province of Quebec in Canada. I don't think it is from France because there, as I recall, in compliance with international standards, "STOP" is used on signage. I have seen "ARRET" used on STOP signs in Quebec.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3756749984420255041.post-91938802481156553562007-08-28T15:47:00.000+03:002007-08-28T15:47:00.000+03:00It's probably an old Canadian school bus. The sign is a warning to drivers nearby (maybe overtaking a school bus is illegal in Canada, as it is in the US).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3756749984420255041.post-47446849234473491692007-08-05T21:26:00.000+03:002007-08-05T21:26:00.000+03:00You know what's driving me crazy now? Most signs are in Arabic, Enlish; and some in Hindi.Marciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16387649769591120865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3756749984420255041.post-72111868164434782632007-03-17T07:06:00.000+03:002007-03-17T07:06:00.000+03:00It's French!
